So, the Wix SEO hero competition enters its final leg. It is already far too later for new entrants to this SEO hero challenge.
Just to recap, here are the basic rules of the SEO hero competition.
- THE WEBSITE MUST BE IN ENGLISH
The website which is entered for the Wix SEO hero challenge must be in the English language.
- THE DOMAIN MUST BE REGISTERED AFTER 16TH NOVEMBER 2016
Pre-existing domains may not be used for this SEO hero competition.
- ENTRANTS MUST REGISTER BETWEEN 16 NOVEMBER AND 16 DECEMBER
So it is too late now for any more entries!
- ADMIN KEYS MUST BE GIVEN TO WIX FOR GOOGLE ACCOUNTS
- THE COMPETITOR’S WEBSITE MUST ABIDE BY THE RULES OF GOOGLE
All the entrants must abide by the terms and rules that Google has, when it comes to ranking websites.
Why this is potentially contentious is discussed a little further on.
- THE AIM IS TO RANK HIGHER THAN WIX FOR THE SEARCH TERM ‘SEO HERO’, SEO HERO MEDIA IS TRYING TO BEAT THIS COMPETITION.
The aim of the competition is to rank higher than the hosts, Wix, for the search terms ‘SEO hero’. But is this even possible?
HOW IS THE COMPETITION BEING JUDGED?
Well, this is the million-dollar question, or, to be more accurate, the $50000 question!
What is known is that the competitors must abide by the terms of Google search engine and not use any methods which Google would disapprove of.
The competition will exclude local search results and focus only on organic search results.
Any competitors not meeting the full conditions of the SEO hero competition will be notified by the moderator.
WHEN IS THE COMPETITION JUDGING PERIOD?
The period of time which this competition is to be judged in, is very nearly upon us.
Between March 13th and March 15th, the judging process will take place.
It will begin on the 13th March at twelve noon (time local to the moderator) and there will be a second search that day, performed at 8pm, local time.
In short, there will be two searches a day, undertaken at 12 noon and 8pm, per day of the competition period.
If there is no overall winner at the end, a final search will take place on the 16th March, at noon. Only the websites judged to be finalists, shall be considered for the winning entry.
SO WHAT ARE THE POTENTIAL PROBLEMS WITH THIS COMPETITION?
Well, apart from the fairly obvious fact that it will be very hard to outrank Wix, a company with two decades of experience, for the search term ‘SEO hero’ there is also some slight question about the methods of judging.
Exactly how will websites be judged to be complying with the Google guidelines could be problematic.
Some suggest a problem with judging of the links on the competing websites, could make it hard for judges to know whether these are ‘genuine’ links or ones that have been deliberately manipulated to boost rankings – something that is against the Google terms.
There may be other scams that determined wannabe search engine optimization winners will try, but one thing is for sure.
The competition may be hard, but all the competitors should be on an equal footing – except perhaps Wix!
